A New Chapter for VLW Photography
A wheatbelt sunset
New Images, New Stories and a Few Answers
It feels like it has been far too long since I sat down and wrote a proper blog post.
Life, work, photography adventures, editing, new locations and everything else in between have a funny way of filling the calendar. Before you know it, months have passed and the blog is sitting quietly in the corner wondering if you've forgotten about it.
Well, I haven't. There has actually been quite a lot happening behind the scenes at VLW Photography, so I thought it was time for a little update.
A new FAQ page
One of the biggest additions to the website is my new FAQ page.
I've been asked a lot of questions over the years about my photography, where my images are taken, how I work, prints, drone photography and what makes an image a VLW Photography image.
The new FAQ is designed to make it easier to understand how I work and, importantly, what you're actually purchasing when you collect one of my photographs.
My photographs are original photographic works. They aren't AI-generated landscapes, and I don't use AI to replace the landscape I'm photographing.
I spend a lot of time travelling, walking, waiting for the right conditions and putting myself in the right place to capture an image. That's part of the story behind every photograph.
More images are now available in the store
I've also been busy adding new photographs to the VLW Photography store.
Some are from recent adventures, while others are images that I've been sitting on for a while, waiting for the right time to release them.
I've been adding more of my Western Australian landscapes, aerial photography, coastal images and abstract landscapes to the collection, giving collectors more opportunities to find something that speaks to them.
A little personal update
There's another reason this new chapter feels particularly exciting for me.
For many years, I've been dealing with a whole collection of health and inflammation issues. Like a lot of women, I've also discovered that getting through your 40s and beyond can come with a whole new set of challenges that nobody really prepares you for.
Let's just say there has been a lot of crap to navigate.
For a long time, I was taking five different medications a day and, despite doing my best to keep going, I often felt like my body was working against me.
I finally found a treatment that is making a genuinely positive difference.
I'm feeling better. I'm moving more. I'm thinking more clearly. I'm getting more energy back.
I'm finding myself wanting to get out and explore again. I'm doing things after work instead of coming home completely exhausted. I'm taking photographs, planning adventures and getting excited about what's around the next corner.
For someone who has spent her whole life feeling like their body was putting the brakes on life with Endo, Fybro, PCOS, Adenomyosis, Trauma Fatigue - that's pretty bloody exciting.
It feels like I'm getting a bit of me back, perhaps that's why this new chapter of VLW Photography feels different too.
What's next?
There are plenty more photographs waiting to make their way onto the website, along with more adventures, more locations and hopefully a few more blog posts!
I'm also continuing to build out my commercial image licensing portfolio for businesses, publications and editorial use via Amazing Aerial Images.
So if you haven't visited the website for a while, have a look around, after a few pretty tough years, I'm feeling incredibly optimistic about what comes next.
Maybe these really will be the best years yet.
I bloody hope so.
